Descripción:
La onagra y la borraja destacan por su riqueza en ácidos grasos esenciales, necesarios para la correcta producción de prostaglandinas (precursores de las hormonas capaces de regular muchas funciones de nuestro organismo). Son especialmente ricos en en ácido linoleico (60-80%) y ácido gammalinolénico con un 9-15% en la onagra y un 20-22% en la borraja.
El gammalinolénico es difícil de encontrar en la dieta habitual y es muy útil para combatir problemas relacionados con la mujer, como los síntomas premenstruales; para el aparato circulatorio, aparato digestivo, reduce los síntomas de las alergias y ayuda en ciertos problemas neuronales.
